Steps to set up your  Ecobee Smart Thermostat Premium in 10 steps

1. To begin, ensure you have the Ecobee app installed on your Android or iOS device. If you haven’t created an Ecobee account yet, open the app and follow the account setup process to get started.
2. On the home screen of the Ecobee app, locate and tap on the “Add a device” option. From there, choose “Thermostat” and then “No, open installation guide” to access the step-by-step tutorial. If you’ve already completed the installation, you can skip ahead by selecting “Yes, it is installed.” For the purpose of this article, we will assume the thermostat has not been installed yet.

If you choose to use it, feed the thermostat wires through the central opening of the trim plate. However, keep in mind that using the trim plate is entirely optional and depends on your specific needs and wall condition.

7. Align the baseplate with the trim plate if you opted to use it. If the holes in the baseplate do not align with those of your old thermostat, mark the new hole locations for drilling. Ecobee recommends using a 3/16-inch drill bit to accommodate the provided wall anchors and hardware during the installation process. Ensuring proper alignment and secure mounting is essential for a successful setup.

8. Reattach the labeled wires to their corresponding wire terminals on the baseplate of the  new thermostat. Ensure each wire is connected to the appropriate terminal. Once all the wires are in place, press the thermostat faceplate firmly onto the baseplate to secure it. No additional hardware is needed for this step; the faceplate should easily snap into position, completing the wiring process.
