How to Reset a Smart Bulb? – DIY – A Step-by-Step Guide That Goes With Anyone!

If you are an owner of a smart home or simply a user of smart bulbs, then you have already experienced how convenient smart bulbs are for our lives. But when you use them on a daily basis, sometimes there can be problems. However, just because the smart bulbs are advance than our regular bulbs, it does not mean that they cannot be fixed if there are any complications. Also, if you are worried that you are going to have to ask an electrician to come and fix it, do not worry. Some problems you can fix just by resetting a smart bulb. So we are going to discuss how to properly reset smart bulbs so you do not have to ask for help from an electrician every time your smart bulbs stop working. It would also save a lot of money and trouble for you too.

What should I do before resetting the bulb?

How to reset smart bulb WiFi?

  1. First, turn on the smart bulb and wait for 3 seconds.
  2. Turn off the light and keep it turned off for a few seconds.
  3. Repeat this process four times.

How to reset a Philips Hue smart light bulb?

Philips Hue smart light bulbs are leading and the most demanding smart light bulbs in the world. Therefore, many of the clients of smart light bulbs use them, and it will definitely come in handy to learn about how to reset them. So, here are the steps.

  1. Bring the Philips Dimmer Switch within a 10 cm radius of the bulb or the lamp.
  2. Press and Hold the and 0 buttons for 10 seconds. You have to keep them holding until the green LED light on the dimmer switch will be turned on.

Just before the green light is turned on, you will see the smart bulb flashing, indicating that the bulb has been successfully reset.

How to reset Wemo Smart LED Bulbs?

If you are using Wemo smart bulbs in your house, you can use the following steps to successfully reset your smart bulbs. Remember to always check if everything else is working faultlessly because safety is important.

  1. First, you have to keep the bulb in the “ON” mode.
  2. Then turn it off for 1 second.
  3. Turn on and keep it for 4 seconds.
  4. Then turn off again for 1 second.
  5. Turn on for 4 seconds.
  6. Then, turn it off for one second one more time.
  7. Turn the bulb on and leave it for 5 seconds.

Keep the light on from now on until you connect the bulb to the Wemo link. You have to do it within 4 minutes since the bulb is turned on, or you will have to perform the resetting process again. If you manage to do this right, then your bulb will be successfully reset.

How to reset GE Smart Bulbs?

You have to use the light switch to reset GE smart bulbs, not the app. When the process is done right, your GE smart bulb will blink. Here is the time sequence for resetting the GE smart light bulbs.

  1. Turn on the switch first.
  2. Then turn it off and keep it turned off for 5 seconds.
  3. Turn the bulb on for 8 seconds.
  4. Turn the bulb off again for 2 seconds.
  5. Here, you have to repeat this process five times or until the smart bulb starts flashing. 

You can know the bulb is successfully reset when the bulb flashes three times.

Resetting an Osram Lightify smart bulb

If your Osram Lightify smart bulb shows problems connecting to the network or not working properly, first try to remove the bulb from the app and reconnect it to a different device, preferably a third-party one. You can go to My Home 🡪 Things in the app and remove the smart bulb. 

After that, you have to perform a hard reset for the bulb t9o be properly reset. Here are the steps of doing that process.

  1. Begin from turning on the life.
  2. Turn off the smart bulb for 3 seconds.
  3. Turn on the bulb and keep it turned on for 3 seconds.
  4. Repeat this process five times.
  5. Wait for 10 seconds.

After ten seconds, the bulb will flash. Then you can reconnect the smart bulb to the app. 

Resetting a Cree smart bulb

You have to perform these steps from the wall switch. 

  1. First, turn the switch on for one second.
  2. Turn the bulb off for two seconds.
  3. Continue this four times.

After the fourth turn, you will see the bulb flashing. It means that the resetting is successful. Now connect the bulb to the mobile app.

How to reset Sylvania smart light bulbs?

Here are the steps of resetting Sylvania’s ZigBee smart light bulbs.

  1. First, Turn on the light bulb and keep it on for 5 seconds.
  2. Then turn the light off and keep it turned off for 5 seconds.
  3. Repeat this process for five rounds. (remember that here one round is both switching on and off the light bulb)

After the fifth round, turn on the light bulb and wait for ten seconds. Then you will see the light blink three times, showing that the smart bulb has successfully completed the resetting process. You can repeat this process again if the first time does not work.

How to reset Sengled smart bulb?

To reset Sengled smart bulbs, you have to follow the below-mentioned steps. But before that, make sure your smart bulb is not affected by external causes of light power shortages.

  1. Start with the smart bulb on the On position.
  2. Turn off the bulb and quickly turn it on again.
  3. Do this process in five rounds. Remember that one On/Off session is count as one round.

When this is successful, the bulb will flash three times, followed by a little pause and one blink. Then you can pair your Sengled smart bulb into your smart devices like Alexa and the mobile app.

So as we said, it is not that much of a complicated process to reset a smart light bulb if you can turn on and off the light switch correctly. However, we should remind you that there is a chance for your bulb to be accidentally reset. There might be kids or small children accidentally touching the light switches or someone mistakenly turns on and off the light bulbs more than once. 

So always check with your mobile app and try to connect it again before you start resetting. The bottom line is that it is a smart switch to use smart bulbs for your house.
